How to Use Your Bible and Breakfast Template

We are so excited that you are exploring the Bible as a family with our Bible and Breakfast Sample Pack. This sample pack will get you started with reading and praying the Bible with your family over breakfast each day.

The beauty of this pack is it is not geared toward any specific passage in the Bible and are questions that can be applied to any part of the Bible.

Where to Begin?

There are many great reading plans out there that will guide you through Scripture in a number of ways. Often they are designed to walk you through the Bible in a year. While a great idea, this may be a little much for your family in the morning as this is designed to help you disciple your children in ten minutes a day.

We recommend starting in one of the Gospels, such as Matthew, as the chapters are often broken up in to shorter segments making them easy to read and discuss in ten minutes over breakfast. Psalms is also a great starting point as most are not too long. This is a great way to ease into making family Bible study a routine for your family.

Why Two Guides?

The first page of the guide is more extensive for adults, older children and teens. We highly recommend that you take some time to work through this sheet during your own Bible study as well to help you get to know your God better, which will help you in discipling your children. The third guide is for younger children that are still in the beginning stages of learning who God is and why His Word is important. There is also a space for them to draw a picture about what they’ve heard if they finish their breakfast quickly (like our little ones do).

Getting in these routines takes practice, so start with the shorter guide if needed and work your way to the longer guide. You can also skip a question if needed for time in your home. These are guides and are not Scripture themselves. They are a tool to help you learn and teach the Word of God.

Prayer

Scripture is there to show us who God is and to guide us in our prayers. After we read the Bible we want to respond to what God has said to us. The middle page is a guide designed to help you pray the Scriptures with your family.

Ex) Based on Genesis 1

Father you are the Creator of all things and a God of order. Forgive us for not living in the design you have created us to live. We have failed to work hard in our home this week and have let chaos rule our hearts. Thank you that we can have your order and peace through Jesus. Please help us to have an orderly home and routines and to show your glory by living in orderliness. In Jesus Name, Amen.
